Hello,

My name is Vanessa and I am 24-years-old.  This blog started as a record of a trip that never happened.  Things in my life have changed dramatically, and this blog will serve as a way for me to share.  A way for me to remember.

I worked in intelligence for the U.S. Navy for about five years.  I was stationed at the National Security Agency and then spent two years aboard the USS Iwo Jima LHD-7.  I was a part of the Hurricane Katrina Relief, and also had the opportunity to evacuate the Americans out of Lebanon during the summer of 2006.

I have since lived as a civilian for two years.  I moved to Los Angeles and worked my way up to be a producer in the new media department at Warner Bros.  I soon realized that the entertainment industry wasn’t for me.  I worked hard and have no regrets, but I miss helping people.  I miss adventure and not knowing.

So I’m going back in.  This blog will serve as a record for my new life, because I wish that I had documented my first enlistment.  A lot is changing, but I feel ready.
